Copper plasmonics with excitons

We investigate the propagation of surface plasmons in a thin layer copper surrounded by oxide ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}\mathrm{O}$. It is shown that particularly strong excitons ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}\mathrm{O}$ can have considerable impact on plasmon propagation, providing many opportunities for plasmon-exciton and plasmon-plasmon interactions. demonstrated use sufficiently metal layer, one excite so-called long range plasmons, which overcome inherently high ohmic losses Cu as compared to usual plasmonic metals such silver. Analytical results are confirmed numerical calculations.
